Today’s workplaces are more demanding and more diverse than ever before. Employers and Human Resource Professionals are often in need of assistance to problem solve work groups, manage conflict or provide training to employees on skills needed to work well with each other.

The Men’s Center offers consultation services for individual managers on managing employee performance, as well as developing policies and procedures for businesses and organizations in need of professional expertise in addressing workplace issues, such as morale, substance abuse, bullying and harassment, domestic violence, workplace violence and various other common issues. The Men’s Center has 20 years of experience addressing a wide variety of workplace issues and training needs.

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

EAPs are intended to help employees deal with personal problems that might adversely impact their work performance, health, and well-being. EAPs generally include assessment, short-term counseling and referral services to addiction resources for employees and their household members.

Some studies indicate that offering EAPs may result in various benefits for employers, including lower medical costs, reduced turnover and absenteeism, and higher employee productivity and morale.

Critical Incident Stress Debriefings and Management

Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) covers a broad spectrum of services that range from one-on-one counseling and small group debriefings to larger group defusings and community meetings due to a large-scale disaster. The Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) is only one type of service that can be used to assist victims of trauma cope with the experience.

A traumatic event is any event that exposes a person to a real or perceived threat to life or person or status. It can be an accidental death, an act of terrorism, or a near death experience or exposure to the grotesque. When a traumatic event such as this occurs, it overwhelms our normal coping mechanisms and we experience what is known as an acute stress response. This is a normal response to an abnormal event. However, if such an event is not dealt with and handled properly, it can develop into a more serious illness called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD.

Critical Incident Stress Management services can help prevent acute stress from developing into PTSD, loss of productivity, increased incidents of accidents and absenteeism. The Men’s Center is trained in CISM and we have experience in providing CISM services in a wide variety of industrial settings.

In-service Trainings

Well-versed in many health and wellness topics, we offer in-service trainings for businesses in communication, conflict resolution and teamwork. We collaborate with you to create tailored sessions that are relevant to your specific work group and environment.

Organizational Consultations

We have experience consulting with employers on human resource issues, such as procedure and policy development and problems within work groups. We also offer Critical Incident Stress Management Services as well as supervisory coaching and development.
