Women’s Issues

The Men’s Center provides supportive counseling to some issues unique to women. These include sexual and self-esteem issues that accompany medical conditions, such as Interstitial Cystitis, Lichen Sclerosis, Lichen Planer, Vulvar Vestibulitis, Vulvodynia, Dyspareunia, Vaginismus, Fibromyalgia, that can negatively impact sexual relationships.

When these physical conditions occur, they are generally treated successfully by medical personnel. However, the emotional stress that accompanies these conditions often goes untreated. In addition, because these types of issues are so intensely personal, women often do not feel comfortable seeking support from friends and family.

We believe it is important to address the emotional consequences of these types of health issues as they affect you and your partner. Caring for the emotional health of your relationship, while being treated medically, can reduce the devastating effects of these conditions. The benefit of seeking supportive counseling is to have your feelings validated and normalized, discredit hurtful assumptions and stigmas, identify proven resources and reclaim your sexual self. Partners also find relief knowing that there are alternative avenues to enhance intimacy to maintain a sexual relationship.
